Angry Chrysler wants to eliminate 800 dealers

NEW YORK -- Chrysler LLC wants to eliminate roughly a quarter of its 3,200 U.S. dealerships by
early next month, saying in a bankruptcy court filing Thursday that the network is antiquated and
has too many stores competing with each other.

Chrysler moves to eliminate 789 of 3,200 dealers - 5/14/09 - San Francisco News - abc7news.com

GM is said to be also be cutting about 1/3 of its dealers. Too many dealers with too much inventory. It was bound to happen.

Quicksilver,

You angry about this?

Don't you think it's what Chrysler needs to do?

I Just feel for all the people who are
going to lose their jobs and their sense of
stability.

I can't imagine what they will do and how
much pain and distress it's going to cause....

Oh, I agree. I'm sad that it's come to this. I can definitely empathize with those people...

What sort of living will "all those people" be making if they aren't selling any cars though?? Most of the dealerships closed sold less than 100 Chryslers per year. That will hardly send anyone to the bread line just solely based on the Chrysler component because most of those dealerships also sell other brands and have used car departments. And no, Chrysler and Daimler disbanded long ago with a private equity buyout - cerberus capital ring a bell?
