Question Selling my X, what do you think is a good price?

01 3.0 124k

Interior/exterior has some wear.
Taking off almost of the goodies except running boards and Remus.

Ive been offered 10k with the stock 18s on it.
kbb is a little higher than that.

any insight is greatly appreciated.

Pawnbroker: I’ll give you fifty bucks for it.
Louis Winthorpe III: Fifty bucks? No, no, no. This is a Rouchefoucauld. The finest water-resistant watch in the world. Singularly unique, sculptured in design, hand-crafted in Switzerland and water resistant to three atmospheres. This is the sports watch of the ’80s. Six thousand, nine hundred and fifty five dollars retail!
Pawnbroker: You got a receipt?
Louis Winthorpe III: It tells time simultaneously in Monte Carlo, Beverly Hills, London, Paris, Rome and Gstaad.
Pawnbroker: In Philadelphia, it’s worth 50 bucks.

Seriously, though. Compare to similar in your area using Auto Trader, Yahoo! Autos, and the like. I see comps listed for around $11-12k, so yeah probably $10k is what you can get if you want to sell it reasonably quick.

Which KBB? Wholesale, retail, or private party? Have you looked in the papers or internet at comparable X5's in your area? Is your X5 worth less, same, or more? You're the one who has to decide how much you want out of the deal.

If you have a good condition, well-maintained X5, try to at least get the KBB private party price. If there's something really special about your X5 that makes it a stand out vehicle, then try to get closer to the KBB retail price. If it's a dog, then your target needs to be KBB wholesale.

If you have an independent mechanic who's worked on your X5 regularly and knows the car well, see if he'll do a PPI for you cheap. If you've done regular maintenance on your car, have the receipts and documentation in a folder to present to a prospective buyer. Include a Carfax. At 124K miles, any doubts about the history of your car will drive the price down, so you'll want to paint a good picture in regards to care and maintenance.

Yeah unfortunately it's 8 years old and over 100k miles--any add-ons you have done to it won't make much of a difference. I'm sure it's in good shape--$10K for private party is about right I would say.
