Unhappy So much for believing what the media says

the First Amendment gives broadcasters the right to lie or deliberately distort the news... So says the court.

Nowhere in the first amendment does it say "must be factual", facts and their appended media rhetoric tend to be in the eye of the beholder. Unless you personally broaden your scope to more than just what one group tells you, you'll be bias. Unfortunately the US society is so dumb, they will believe what they hear immediately and never research a piece of the story. And usually if you do research it and try to express an opinion you'll face a barrage of misinformed individuals claiming to know the 'facts' on the matter. The problem is that media is a 'for profit' industry and they will do whatever is necessary to turn a dime, especially now. It is a propaganda war out there between 'liberal' and 'conservative' crews.

But I digress, the media has lied since the dawn of time. Just look up 'reports' on the Lusitania and how there was 'no warning' and it was 'just carrying passengers'. This isn't a new thing to lie in the media. The first amendment has allowed politicians to lie for years. It is so bad now people actually expect that they will not carry out what they promise during their campaign. That is sad.

What I find funny is now "major media" sources use 'iReports' and the like to help build less than truthful story lines. Because hey, CNN or Fox isn't paying those people......

The catch phrase is "differentiate news from FICTION" which typically isn't done by the FOX NEWS faithful. What actually ends up occurring is that these bright-minds will assume what "commentators" (Glenn, Rush, Sean, Bill O' and even Joe the Plumber) tells them is the gospel, and run with it.

Sensationalism sells and FOX does a great job at it.

It's Fox News. Did you expect anything but right wing rhetoric?

True, but not to the extent of FAUX NEWS where every segment is full of innuendos and right-wing rhetoric.

only when viewed from the left

I guess you don't watch CNN or CBS or NBC much?

It's always funny listening to people rail against FOX (which i agree is right wing) and yet accept the subliminal left wing liberal b.s. that the 3 other majors and CNN spew every day.

I guess it's only wrong when you disagree with it

Wow, so TMZ and the Enquirer it is.

What does surprise me, Wagner, is that you just tried to justify the media lying and distorting the news. That's B.S., IMO.
