Somebody Sent Me A Free Brand New Set of Wheels...

So a year ago, I got some X5 replica wheels from a seller on eBay that were really inexpensive. After ordering them and the company consequently shipping them out, I decided that I didnt want a staggered setup (2-20x9" and 2-20x10"), but 20x10" all around. I emailed the company and they said no problem, I'd just have to pay for my own return shipping of the 2 wheels I'd be sending back and the shipping of the two replacement wheels, plus an additional $100.

I sent them the money and was in the process of packaging the wheels for shipment and called them only to confirm their shipping address (I'd already sent them the payment via paypal).

I spoke to the owner who wound up being very rude to me. He recanted his offer for the option and wouldnt let me return the two 20x9" wheels. In addition, I was told there if I wanted to return the wheels completely, there would be a 20% restocking fee (in addition to the return shipping) in which case I'd be losing alot of money between the shipping charges and the restock fee. I would've gotten less than half of my money back.

I decided to sell the wheels myself and fortunately, I was even able to make a small profit. About 6 months ago, I received a shipping invoice from the seller as though I'd bought some wheels and they were preparing a shipment to be sent to me. The following day, I received another email saying a glitch in their system created the order and it was being canceled.

Fast forward to today. I checked my email and not only was there an wheel order invoice with a "PAID" indication on it but there was a UPS shipping notice with tracking keys with weight of packages and all. On the invoice it says "TYPE 125 BLACK 20X9 ET60 BLACK 20X9" and "Porsche install kit + lugs". I'm assuming its for a Cayenne because of the size but I could be wrong.

When I made my initial eBay purchase, I had the wheels sent to my wheel guy because it didnt make sense to ship them to my house as 1) I wouldnt have been home and 2) I'd have to take them to the wheel guy anyway.

So this new wheel order is invoiced to my wheel guy and thats the shipping address as well. Well so far it looks like thats where they'll be delivered to.

Finally, I obviously drive an X5 and not a Porsche and dont need any wheels.

I've already made up my mind to return the wheels for my own personal reasons. But with all that said and considering the seller's unfavorable disposition, WHAT WOULD YOU DO??

I'd say give the oh so pleasant man a call and tell him what happened. Offer the wheels back at his expense for shipping. He'd might say to keep them depending on his cost into them vs shipping. Never know.

Well I surely wasn't paying to send them back anyway. Not after the way he acted. Hey maybe he'll trade them for the wheels I REALLY wanted...

I would send them back. I had a phone I did a disputed return on on eBay. I got return to sender because they had closed up shop. Sold it for cash

Call the guy and tell him the truth. That is, the truth being there's a handling fee for shipping them back and it just happens to be the same as his restocking fee, which he thought was reasonable to charge you initially. Oh, and get the shipping and handling in advance.

If he refuses restate the offer in an email so there's documentation otherwise he'll claim you're trying to rip him off.
