Here's my guess:
2009 BMW X5 xDrive48i $799 Lease/36 months $2,500.00 down payment 10,000 miles per year $44,173.00 buy out at lease end Buy for $40,199.00 <= that probably should say $70,199 for retail purchase MSRP $74,870.00 |

10k miles/16tkm a year is useless unless you intend to use it solely as a status-mobile in NYC.

Why the hell would anyone ever use a car in NYC, with the exception to get out of the city anyway (AKA to where I am right now...) Even our X with only moderate weekend use makes 12k.

Good question, I don't know, I don't live in NYC anymore, I live in the 'burbs. When I did, I garaged my car on Long Island, used it mostly for getting to/from Hamptons in Summer and going skiing in VT and upstate NY in the winter.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with good public transportation; in fact it's a good thing. However, why get a BMW X5 when a smaller, less expensive, and more efficient vehicle will do (a hatchback, coupé, or compact sedan)? If I lived in NYC, I'd just get an Astra or Mini Cooper for the occasional weekend journey.
