Angry CC & Credit "Help" Calls...

Just a rant,
Lately, we have been receiving several unsolicited phone calls
per week from the "Fix Your Credit Card Debt/Household Debt" idiots...

I suspect there are even more when the initial robo call senses it is
hearing an answering machine when we aren't home.

I have waited for the real person a couple times and asked how in the hell
they can call us when we are on the Fed's Don't Call List, (which until this
current barrage, has been very effective in bs calls.) A couple of other
times I threatened to track them down and wring their fookin necks, being
the crusty ol'geezer I have become...

On one call, I played along to learn more about the "company", but the
info they offered was vague, eg: no web site, "location of biz" turned
out to be phony, etc. And, I would have had to give up too much info
for them to go much further. I realize these are boiler room operations
but I was hoping to get a fix on the fookin bastards. Hitting * 69 usually
gives up "number is not in service", too.

Fookin shysters and con artists, but they have really stepped it up to
"help" the great unwashed whom are still waiting for their part of the
"stimulus". Rant over; I feel better...jes'wondering if anyone is being
bugged by this new group of pond scum?

None here. I get very few, if any, calls at home. The spam in my email is another story.

Did you buy you X5 recently? When we got ours a couple weeks ago, the finance guy put a "privacy" statement in front of us. Everywhere else Ive seen one of these it says something along the lines of "we will not sell your info to anyone". This one specifically said that by signing this paper, I give BMW permission to give any info it wishes to both internal and external "partners". I refused to sign this. The finance guy got kind of pissy and wrote "refused to sign" at the bottom and got me to sign the refusal. My CA told me as we were walking out of the building that he didnt blame me and that several people had complained about receiving calls.

If you "give them permission" through stuff like this, telemarketers can ignore the DNC list.

Here's how to solve the problem:

Buy airhorn
Leave horn within reach of phone
wait for solicitation call
answer phone
wait for real person
blow horn into phone
apologize for loud noise, you're on cordless outside and dump truck just went by...
Hang up phone.

GoVols,
We bought our X back in Sept '01...
We have gotten a hand's worth of junk calls in the last several years, after
signing up for No Call, and reloading that sign up.

We have an a couple CCs that have never had a balance past that month;
no mortgage on either house for a decade. Very careful on any info getting
out, as we got our ID scammed a few years ago. One could not get into any
of our accts with a jackhammer or a hack genius: they all have a verbal password
for most any transaction.

Just pizzes me off...I thought the "track you down and wring your neck" line
was catchy, but they would probably call the cops. I like Gresch's idea.
