Lucky move on Vick's part; maybe not the best PR on
the Beags' part, but good PR and ethics are in dwindling

"not being able to play", but he did his time, and this is the Land
of the Free, Home of the Brave and, 2nd Chance Central. I was
not a fan of his when he was with ATL and, am not a fan of any

I have been a Falcons season ticket holder since '99. It was AWFUL at games before he came because there would be more fans cheering for the opposing teams than the Falcons. One of them was me sometimes as I'm only an implant to Atlanta and a Steelers fan first!

But when he came, he made the team a winner and put Falcons fans in the seats!

It sucked what he did, but he's paid his dues, lost MILLIONS of $$ and his reputation. I'm glad to see he's back in the league.

I remember those days in ATL...we'd go for the tailgate parties and were more interested in the opposing teams. Acquiring Vick def turned things around and made game-day much more exciting.

I think Philly was a good move for him...a well organized, disciplined and winning team may be the best environment for him. He has a lot to prove and many to win over. I'm definitely looking forward to this season.

He may have legally paid his dues but he is still a horrible example of humanity. Those dogs were cruelly tortured by his own hands. Drowning a defenseless dog with your own hands takes a very sick person.

What example does this set for kids? You can still get fame and fortune even though you are a really sick sadistic killer. Wonderful.

The arguments in my opinion pale - they were only dogs and he did his time.

GMAFB. The NFL should open itself up to all prisons as a half way profession back into the general society.

When Mr. Vick's jersey becomes available I will gladly wear it around town because I will enjoy the many opportunities to punch holes in the ego's of those deranged Puppy Hugger Nation members who will certainly speak up.

People place WAY too much value on animals, IMO. And just because some arbitrary value was placed on animals we keep as pets that aren't placed on animals that we use for food, doesn't make it not as cruel to put a bullet or arrow through a deer's or moose's or a wild boar's head or chest.

As far as tailgating and sports fans are concerned, Atlanta will never be one of those hard-core, hometown sports cites like Philly, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, etc. There are too many transplants here (like you and I) who bring their sports loyalties with them. Now, go to Athens during football season and that is a different story.

Interesting angle, though technically speaking people are animals. Why devalue another species, and put our own on a pedestal? Because we are humans? Because we're more organized than some of the other species? Don't get me wrong here - PETA is most often too radical for me. I have leather seats in my X5, and love a good steak now and then. However there is a huge difference between farm raising animals for human consumption vs. mutilating animals for entertainment. The 'other cultures do it' excuse is laughable. Some cultures eat people, but if Matt Hasselbeck from my beloved Seahawks were to start up that practice I would likely find someone else to root for. According to our culture, Vick is a felon. According to my beliefs, he is a despicable human being.

By the way, Vick is a born and bred thug. He can't help it. It runs in his family. Just look at his brother. Hopefully the jail time changed who he is as a person. If not, it is only a matter of time until he does something stupid again.

I don't agree with what he did at all, but he DID do his time and apparently the NFL has no problem employing felons. That is their choice though.

I didn't say that. I'm saying it's arbitrary to call dogfighting torture but in the same breath say that shooting animals for sport is not torture or cruel.
