I would check them out that fact that they have a process means that they care and you should not end-up with a sick dog.

The NSAL is tough with regards to having someone home to care for the dog. They won't let you adopt a dog if it will be home alone 10 hours a day while everyone is at work. They also ask for references.

Agreed. I plan on having a dogwalker come and walk/play the dog for an hour.

I always stick by my motto, "Don't breed or buy while shelter animals die", to me it's sad that people choose to buy an animal while thousands of animals die from overcrowded kennels. Only when you take away the popularity of buying dogs from breeders will they stop. Please visit your local kennel and give an animal a second chance.
