That's what I hear. People say it seems as good or better than XP as far as stability, and supposedly runs fast and smooth on a machine set up for vista.

I'm ready to make that change on the windows machine as there is always something with that damn vista.

I should have read the list. Fusion broke my printers. I am now having to PDF in Fusion, and then print native in OSX.

For those considering switching and your machine is your lifeblood-workhorse, there seems to be a bug in Time Machine. I am UBER adament about good healthy backups. It is crawling. It's been 17-18 hrs already via Firewire 800, and it has only backed up 146 gigs in 18 hrs. In a quick google search, this seems to be a known bug as others are having similar issues.

Just curious;

Did you clone to an external drive before you upgraded?
Some of the information I've read recommends having 2
back up drives. Time machine and an external cloned drive.

Additionally after I clone a drive & verify the cloned drive
will boot then I unplug all external usb and firewire gear
then I do the OS upgrade. If all goes well I will plug in
the time machine drive, erase it, then let it backup overnight.

What process did you use?

That's standard MO for me. I use SuperDuper to clone. I do this every 1-2 months as a bootable backup.

And time machine just for everything in between.

There seems to be mixed feedback but there is a bug def. in time machine. Other reports are speedy and others are having issues like mine. On a fresh formatted drive...or even non fresh formatted, it took 30 hrs to run a full time machine via Firewire 800.

I'll look for it when I install. Software should arrive tomorrow
and I'm not looking forward to upgrading 4 computers
especially after installing some critical software over
the last few days. New hard drives on the way and
I will be cloning again when they arrive.....Whew

Time Machine with my Time Capsule is working well with 10.6 Snow Leopard. No problems so far.

I just installed Windows 7 on my MacBook with VMWare Fusion. So far, I like it. I had a VM of Vista before and it didn't run well in a VM environment, so far no issues with Windows 7 running on it.

I also installed it on a friends laptop as their main OS. It has been running great on there, they love it and say it is faster than what Vista was.
