Sharpton's ex-wife and daughter have their day in court

Al Sharpton's daughter Dominique and ex-wife Kathy Jordan appear in court after traffic stop

Al Sharpton's ex-wife and daughter launched an obscenity-laced tirade and tried to avoid being handcuffed after a Harlem traffic stop, prosecutors charged Monday.

"Why the f--- are you locking her up?" Kathy Jordan, 53, yelled at officers as they arrested her daughter. "Get your f------ hands off her."

Dominique Sharpton, 23, did not remain silent either when a cop handed her summons for cutting him off by crossing a double line and running a red light Oct. 30.

"This is f------ bull----," police say she screamed. "You were driving too slow. I have a play to go to."

The mother-daughter tandem appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court to answer a desk appearance ticket for resisting arrest and other charges.

Prosecutors offered no deal. Mother and daughter are due back in court Jan. 19. They each face up to a year in jail.

Their lawyer, Michael Hardy, asked the judge to dismiss the charges, claiming their rantings are protected under the first amendment. His motion was denied.

"Since when is a verbal objection become criminal in America?" Hardy asked outside the courtroom.

The two women did more than cursing the cops out, court papers charge.

Sharpton, who works at her father's National Action Network, "flailed her arms" to avoid getting cuffed and later "pushed her feet against the police vehicle to resist being placed inside said vehicle," the complaint said.

Jordan, who divorced the rubble-rousing reverend in 2004, grabbed the handcuffs from a Housing Authority sergeant and "twist[ed] her body away from police officers," cops charged.

The drama, which cops say captivated a crowd of passersby, unfolded after 7 p.m. at W. 110th St. and Eight Ave.

Sharpton was on her way to a play when she started tailgating a slow-moving unmarked police car before blowing passed it. She called her mother after being stopped and Jordan arrived at the scene.

Rev. Al Sharpton has criticized the arrest on his Twitter page, calling the police treatment "unfair."

I love this part:

Dominique Sharpton, 23, did not remain silent either when a cop handed her summons for cutting him off by crossing a double line and running a red light Oct. 30.

"This is f------ bull----," police say she screamed. "You were driving too slow. I have a play to go to."

She crossed a double yellow to pass a cop because he was going to slowly and she was late for a play

Wow.

Epic fail, give her a year in jail...wait...that will NEVER HAPPEN..so why even have it as a possible sentence? I digress, I'll remember to tell a cop "fu-- off" after giving me a speeding ticket and say "1st amendment right mutha-fukkah".

Sad.

If this is a picture of Al's wife, the cops probably were concerned for their own safety.
