anyone ever gotten sponsorships?

Hey guys
I'm working hard to enter the 2010 Bullrun. I'm trying to get some sponsors to throw me some money to help cover my entry fee in return for ad space on my E53 and coming website.
Anyone have experience with approaching companies for sponsorship money? what works what doesnt work?
what to expect?
just curious if anyone has ever gone looking for sponsorships like this or if anyone has any cool ideas.
thanks in advance!

Try your local BMW Dealer.

Cool to see a BMW X5 in the next Bullrun, nice show and cars... The 4.8 would have the best chance as they really mix it up in the show with offroad and good handling type challenges.

Schedule some time with your Sales Advisor if you have a good relationship with them if not discuss this directly with the Sales Manager and be prepared to present on how this sponsorship will benefit the dealership.

In my experience, sponsors/brands are looking for new ways to reach their demo aside from usual ad-buys etc, especially given the fact that ad sales are on the decline in just about all avenues (tv, radio, online, print)...so long as the venture will yield potential new business or at least reach their target demo, you'll always have an ear. What you have going for you is that the auto world and it's enthusiasts are some of the most brand loyal.

From my experience:
-K.I.S.S (keep it simple stupid)
-A simple one-sheet will suffice
-Have a plan B, should plan A bomb (or they may just wanna hear your other ideas)
-You can present a cross marketing concept with similar competing brands (if done right - pm me and i'll explain how i once did this)
-The more legwork you've already done, the easier for them to sign-on (for example, create mockups)
-Prove to them the amount of traffic your site receives or expects to receive
-Remember to relax during the pitch, what's the worst they can say, no?

Now if i gave you all my COOL ideas, i'd have to charge ya

CarSponsors.com - Get your car sponsored by Car Sponsorships and build your dream car - I see these stupid commercials every Sunday watching Powerblock on Speed Channel. Also, I'd try to get in touch w/ all the sponsors of the actual Bullrun if you're being serious. Of all the videos I've watched, it seems 95% all have the same sticker jobs, so you just need to prove your case to them that a 2.5ton vehicle might just be able to keep up. I hope to god you have mods and at least something to put into that like $10k entry fee.
