Going on a little trip...

Ok guys, driving the x5 to Florida from NYC. Looking to spend 1 or 2 nights going down and maybe one night coming back. Any cool places to stop? Going to sanibel island area...
OBVIOUSLY already planning on Spartanburg sc.
Give me ideas!

RC, I've been in the Pita House, in Greenville,SC...
It was good, though not like some had raved about.
I don't think there is one "near Asheville, NC"; don't
know every joint in Asheville, but I do know most by
name.

Any other ideas?

DOH!!!
It is Greenville, SC. My errror. I'll say it's 'good' (worth a trip at least) but for being a Pita/kebab shop in S.C. it's REAL good!!
Thanks for cleaning this up!

Chapel Hill to Asheville is a bit over 3-3,5 hours if the traffic isn't too bad.

By the way, VA is officially the worst state to drive in. My professor talked in class today about getting a speeding ticket last week on his way to Florida.

All of downtown Greenville is good. Good stopping point, too. Get a room and walk around the town and you really can't go wrong with what it offers for gastronomy.

E61Silver is an unknown quantity at this point
I think you will need two and a half days each way if you plan to sleep each night and stop to see things.

I would agree; dunno where Darkside is in NY, but having done that run
umpty dozen times, it's nearly 12 hrs of hauling azz from "NY" to G'Ville...
I don't think they run the BMW US Mutha plant tour at night.

And, from G'Ville to Sanibel has to 11+ hrs, as we do the Asheville area
to Naples run in 12 hrs with no stops other than gas.

Weather down here in SW FLA, is sensational, so far this season.

Thanks for the great ideas guys! Keep em coming! I've done the drive Many times but always in one 20-something hour sprint. This time I plan to enjoy the ride.
