how are the roads in NJ DE MD VA NC

I might have to make the drive from NY to SC tomorrow to meet a new customer ... for those of you in those states listed above, how are the major highways? Should I risk driving down?

Thanks in advance for your input!

The main roads in my area are clear and I live a good 30 minutes from the nearest highway. I'm sure 95 will be good to go. The only thing you'll have to worry about is when the temperatures will be above freezing during the day and then below freezing at night. What has melted during the day will refreeze at night. However, that shouldn't be a problem on 95.

Jon!

Hey, I'll be following you! ME to Richmond tomorrow. My friends in VA are cursing VDOT because they're focusing on the interstates before secondary roads, so I think it should be fine.

Our Daughter-in-law & Granddaughter just drove down the NJTPK/I-295, from North NJ to Magnolia
in South Jersey. She said it was not a white knuckle trip and she is driving a FWD Ford Fusion w/out
snow tires. I would bet your route is fine tomorrow, Jon.

Snowy, but not too bad. Roads looked lunar this morning but now the sun/salt combo is breaking them up. The question will be how much black ice? Since this 2' will create run-off for a week or so, it is just a question of how many evening and morning accidents.....

In MD there is a shot at freezing rain/snow on Fri/Sat this week...that should add to the fun.

MD highways are fine as are most secondary roads. Sometimes an outside lane will disappear suddenly for no reason (pet peeve for MD) so try to remain in the middle lanes to avoid a sudden necessary lane change.

VA is different. Although they will clear a lane completely (no sudden snowbanks), there may be limited lanes such as 3 instead of 4. In addition secondary roads and ramps are NOT cleared. Interstates I-81 and I-64 remain snowpacked although plowed. We don't use the same chemicals as Maryland, so the ice and snow pack persists.
