Question Ray Cantena -Infiniti Dealership, $750 Inspection Fee for CPO???

Hey guys,

I'm looking at purchasing a 2008 CPO G35 Sedan at Ray Catena Dealership. I was informed by them that there would be a $750 inspection fee to have the car Certified.... even though it appears as a CPO car on the Infiniti CPO website. I called Infiniti USA and they confirmed that dealerships reserve the right to charge a "fee" for the inspection.

My question is, is this $750 fee normal? I was always under the assumption that purchasing a CPO car meant it was certified already. Doesn't seem to make sense to pay an additional $750.... Recommendations and/or comments?

Thanks all!

The dealers do have to pay a significant fee to have the car CPO'd and in the end they can only transfer that cost to the buyer so in the grand scheme of things I'd say it is not the worst slease-move a dealer can make. Having said that I have never seen it actually listed as a seperate fee - but maybe your dealer just does things differntly

aww Naz... I really hope you're wrong, but I'm glad you told me though. It's something I'll keep in mind. I had a feeling they weren't the "best" dealership around when the $750 fee came up.

I wouldn't pay it. Curiously why not upgrade to the G37 (2009+)?

Almost an 8k difference. There aren't that many CPO G37 as of yet. The ones that are, are above the $30k range.

Out here the 2006-2008 G35's are in the 20-28k range. I see them at car dealers all the time. I've never heard of a dealer charging ESPECIALLY in this economy

E61Silver is an unknown quantity at this point
I had a G37 for rental last winter in FL it was a nice car with lot of leather and Lux features but iI got tired of it very fast and was happy to give it back. We ended up staying for a extended period and switch to a Chevy Malibu which it some way seemed nicer than the G37. Yes the G had tons of power but its exhaust noise was annoying and it had a Japanese boy racer feel that grew old quick.

Not saying that its a bad car just think consider others such as a BMW 3 or a CTS.
Wonder if you could get a deal on a new CTS?

I would love to have a bmw 3, but even the CPO's are quite a lot of money. Additionally, the reliability of the e90s are sub-par compared to infiniti. I hadvnt looked at the CTS yet.

Tell them you are fine with the $750 fee, but the price for the car just went down $750.
