Its so funny, less than 4 hours ago, I'm driving thru NYC and on Amsterdam and 79th and I see a familiar looking blue e53 with powdercoated wheels and the hazards were on with them flashing slightly blue.

I said to myself "I think I've seen this X before" and I pulled over as a guy returned to the X. I asked him if he was on Xoutpost and it was BMWX54.4! We chatted for a bit and then he was off and I had work to do. But if I hadnt seen him I'd have no way of knowing who it was.

If he'd made a post saying "Member Blue X5 e53 4.4 2001 NYC" I would have easily been able to at least narrow it down who it was (had I not had a chance to stop).

BTW, dude has a WICKED Remus exhaust!! A sound clip would do this exhaust no justice, I'm serious.
Aren't blue blinkers illegal? I remember doing stuff like that in highschool...got sick of the stupid fix-a-tickets. Clear corners w/ clear bulbs LED's that flash yellow to keep everything legal is the way to go.

His exhaust isn't Remus. It's actually some $25 mufflers from ebay...there is an entire thread about it. http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...-mufflers.html From a guy who can't afford to fix his transmission so he can use 1st and Reverse, I hope he hasn't resorted to lying in an effort to sound as if he actually has money. As long as they sound good though, that's what's important since I've never been a believer of the old age saying "you get what you pay for", especially since I went w/ $120 Magnaflows instead of $1200 $$Dinan$$ mufflers.

Funny... He was a little taken aback/apprehensive when I walked up to his X... I remembered the exchange you two had on another post... something about dick hopping... I was laughing to myself thinking what if he's thinking I'm you since most of us dont know each other by face... Maybe u might've attacked him or something, lol...

and if those mufflers were $25 I want a set. They sound wonderful! If euro-american were a word, it'd describe the sound.

And his bulbs are not BLUE blue, they're the hyper-white bulbs... Its a nice X... Sounds like ur still a lil salty about that exchange, lol

cmyx6go, I didnt know anyone had done it yet. We were supposed to say on the post that we'd done it. But no biggie. Its real cool though to be able to meet fellow members that we argue, tease, cajole, on a daily basis.

As far as a meet, I'm with it but as far as the planning, I know how much effort goes into something like that. And unfortunately with me being in school and working full time+mucho overtime, I dont have the time to do that.

There are a few nicely modded X5s that come through the shop, I often wish I had a stack of Xoutpost.com business cards in my toolbox to stick in their console or ashtray etc.

Hey Y not!!?? Who's to say where it came from when they find it days later?

And there are plenty of business cards available for free on the web (with a little watermark advertising on the backs mostly, but at least they're free right?).

Now if we could only get a final say on the Xoutpost design... I know, I know Michelle, that's on your list right above the stickers...

PS James I wished for a more indicative new name for our site home too... Like XFIVEWORLD or XSERIES, something that upon sight would immediately conjure up thoughts of what our site is about...

I't a wonder X5world was taboo but E90post and bimmerboards etc. are all in the clear... I can print them from my computer setup with some business card paper, but then I'd have to design them... overworked + lazy when I get a few minutes = not any time soon.

It'd be great if you had a logo to incorporate into the design...

The thread that solicited logo designs has been closed but was a final design ever chosen? Maybe a new thread constructed as a poll needs to be started requesting opinions on the top entries. The admins could send emails to all members (i guess they can do that, no??) requesting their vote with a poll closing date a month away.

Just an idea...

Yeah, I think they just didn't see "the" logo come out of that thread... There were some decent logo's but nothing that stood out as the one to go with imo.

Ha. I'm just a volunteer admin/moderator on the site who offered to take on the sticker project. The logo design is up to the owners of the site, not me.

I agree. I liked the Hitchcock-type logo but it wasn't fully fleshed out. Maybe a new post needs to be created. Or maybe we need to rename the site and have a contest for that, lol

I agree. I think sites like E46Fanatics and E90post can get away w/ it because it's not a directly linked name to BMW, but I've been on m5board.com for YEARS. What about renaming the site to X5board, or E53Fanatics? I'm all for making it easier to remember and sounds like it fits...outpost just doesn't sound right.

We should found out if the admins/mods are even ok w/ another change, then start a poll for the name before we go any further w/ logo designs.

EDIT : Now that i'm thinking about it more, the only problem I see w/ using E53 or X5 is that is leaves out the X3, E70, etc. Either way, I'm all for something besides outpost if we can/wanna proceed w/ this.
