Question Anyone have a CB radio installed or still use for that matter??

Just wondering if anybody still uses CB. I know I have not touched it since the early 80's.

Anyone actually got it installed in the X??

I bought a canary yellow plastic "walkie-talkie" looking unit from Radio Shack about 6 yrs ago. We take it on trips and find it comes in handy each time when stuck in traffic: it at least gives us the reason for the hour's worth of sitting on I-81, et al. It receives well, though its "talk"/send range is very limited. We can listen to the truckers bitch about all of us in cars, find what mile mkr the closure is at, what lane, etc. Handy, imo.

I used to use one when I was an airborne/mobile traffic reporter. Now I have a pair of those Motorola walkie talkie units like MD has, which I take to the mall for when me and the future mrs. go shopping. I can go to the bar and have a drink while she is endlessly combing the racks at Anne Taylor, and when she's ready, she keys the mic.

I used to use one when I sold my house and bought a truck to roam the country solving mysteries and helping poor people. I couldn't have done it without my best friend Bear. He's a monkey but rides shotgun like nobody's business and he looks really cute in overalls.

Seriously, there is a guy who posted on RF and B'Fest named PatX5. He had a CB installed in this center console bin. I wonder where he is. He's rolling around on my old Style 69's.

Interesting responses, I had completely forgotten about CB until it appeared in another thread. Ahhh the memories, do those walkie talkies just use the Family frequencies or can you still check on CH 19??

I have a pair for skiing to stay in touch with the wife.

Ifly, My post may have been vague, as JV thought I was using a walkie-talkie...the CB I have is a brick sized unit w/6" rubber antenna, sorta like the one in the pic. The diff is mine is 6 or 7 yrs old and less modern looking. Thus, I can listen to ch 19 when stopped or traffic is screwed up on long trips.

We also have a pair of cheapazz BellSouth logo walkie talkies: they work well, too, but no channel 19...slightly diff part of the EMS.
