Here in SC almost noone uses turn signals and everyone runs 'right on red'. There is no police enforcement of these simple rules. It just let's people know they can keep up only minimal skills, and never get pulled over. Toyota will suffer this just as Audi did years ago, then more accidents will happen on the 'fixed' cars and the ignorant media will try to pin them again. Finally the hype will fade away with the next big headline (just watch Inside Edition and the evening news) and a few of us will understand it was 95% lack of skill that caused the whole thing.

People also stop at green lights.

SC Fun fact, my friend had to go to traffic court for 90/55 today, with a rap sheet longer than I can think. $335, no points and not a moving violation. And thats not the first time that's happened. Thats the only thing the traffic enforcement cares about.

MM, you, like Meiac, would have to do serious practice on your accent
and local language "skills".

I've lived in the mtns of western NC for 8 1/2 yrs and I still haven't learned how to properly use
the objective pronouns "you'uns, we'uns, and us'uns".

Turn signal usage is a missing page from the NC drivers handbook, also.

I find that putting numbing creme on my tongue generally does the trick. They warmed up to me as soon as I put a confederate flag palmetto tree decal on my car

And my friends (from Maryland) accuse me of having picked up a Southern accent and sounding like a redneck. Great, now I'm in no-man's land, linguistically.

Maybe I need one of those Palmetto decals, although that's not completely rare around here at all.

Yeah, but tomorrow he will. He'll have to bow-down to congress and take his lumps for a problem they really can't identify and come up with a proper fix. Unfortunately, he's dealing with a government that owns a big chunk of GM, the US Government takeover of the auto industry. Can Toyota really compete with the US Government's version of the automobile industry's "public option"? This is just big government picking on Toyota to better GM's (and other US automaker's) bottom-line.
