not even 12 hrs and it's been released in the droid community with root included and the upgrade in the baseband firmware (cell radio for better performance and battery life). LOL
it still doesn't have all the features of the already released 2.1 rom versions everyone else has out for the past few months, but it's a much better version than the 2.01 factory version. |

you want a custom 2.1 rom or the official vzw 2.1 with root and baseband update?
both can be found on threads over at Droid Forums - Nexus, Motorola, HTC - DroidForums.com in the rom section. if you are looking for a custom rom, i would suggest going to the market and getting "ROM Manager". It will download and install a number of roms for you (with the paid version. free version only downloads cyanogenmod by default) but of course, you need root access first. |

There have been lots of 2.1 ROMs out there but I haven't switched for my Hero on Sprint. I will NOT download the Sprint version of 2.1 because (a) it will not be optimal and (b) it supposedly will close exploits to allow root access. I have my Hero rooted and with a custom ROM. As Hayaku pointed out, developers are lighting fast to come up with a better version of whatever the carrier is putting out. I will be waiting for Sprint's 2.1 update to be improved, then I'll update and keep root access.
