Montgomery, AL

Going to be there for a week.

Is there anything that is a "must see" in the area?

Nothing really...

One of my best friends is from there, and would sooner cut his wrists than go home, even for a few days. According to him, the only good things are the cheaper cigarettes and the warmth. What kind of stuff are you there to do?

I agree with Meiac/D, as I've been there a few times, way back when I carried
the bag, and once a year for the past several years on Geezer Golf Trip, chasing
the ball on the fabulous Robert Trent Jones Trail. But, other than golf and some
stuff on the Monty,AL site, not sure I can recommend any "must dos".

I like Shakespeare, (sort of like enjoying calculus), and they do list a decent
Shake series and repertory theater in town, this coming week, fwiw.

City of Montgomery : Places to Go

And, a wiki:
Montgomery, Alabama - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

CityData.com, which is a somewhat useful forum for states and,
metro areas within a state, unfortunately has no "Montgomery"
area forum, which is odd, as its the 2nd largest metro area in AL,
behind B'ham.

Interesting town. Here on business.

It is a southern town that has obviously seen better days. Yet at the same time, it looks like they are making a real effort at bringing it back. I like where the new downtown is headed.
