Is this a good router deal?

Guys, is this a good deal? Can I expect even lower prices?

I got a Netgear router on Friday but read bad things about from users when I got home. That's getting returned tommorow. I have a Linksys B router now and llike everything about except the speed.

I have the Linksys WRT54GX Wireless-G broadband router with SRX (Speed and Range eXpansion) technology. It's absolutely awesome with no deadspots at all throughout the house. Granted you also need the SRX wireless adapter for your laptops. I get speed of 108 Mbps instead of the regular 54.

those 108 speed are burst speeds and only work with other linksys products, i would say stick with the normal 54G and for that, yes, thats a pretty good deal. our house is about 9000 square feet, my router is in the basement corner room, and i get a good signal in the completly other end of the house 3 floors up, so im not sure how mcuh your going to need that extra antenna

Huh? You'd prefer 54 over 108? Doesn't make any sense. It makes a HUGE difference if you're transferring files between two computers, for example. And I did mention you need the SRX adapter for your notebooks to be compatible.

Yea, I know the 108mbps is a lot lot faster, but that means I need to have an pc card also. I already have B/G built into my Thinkpad and don't want anything stickin out. Will SuperG ever be built in ?

I have that one but brand-new sitting unopened in the box. That's the one I got on Friday. After reading the Netgear forums, it seems like its a horrid product. Apparently, it constantly drops signals, etc. On the main page of the router page in their forums there were several threads about that particular router. So if any of you are considering it, stay away.

Exactly, that's the trade-off. It does stick out like a sore thumb.

I think it'd be damn worth it though if you do a lot of network file transfer. Here it's mainly used to distribute the internet , and share the printer. When there are 3-4 simultaneous connections this Linksys B router tends to bog down.
