The car of your dreams
As I grew up and got older I started to mature, but I still think about the car of my dreams. How about you guys? What was your childhood dream car?

Growing up, it was the Ford GT40, early models that had the 289 V8. It took the 427 to beat Ferrari at Lemans, but the 289 cars were prettier. Anything from the 1964-1965 time frame. I had a 16 mm movie of Ford racing at Lemans, showing the 1-2-3 finishes. Nothing made out of fibreglass in later years counted, it had to be one of the original prototypes or production models.
Those were pretty much racing cars, so for a road car, it was the early Jaguar E type, series 1, but with the 4.2 engine. The 3.8 was nice and it was the original, but it had the Moss box and some overheating issues.

Thunder, we must be similar ages. If it was a Chev, it was a '63 split window. If it was a Pontiac, it was a GTO. If it was a Ford, it was a Shelby GT350 Mustang or a GT40 (Panteras came later). Great years for cars.

I grew up with a car obsessed father and uncle, we used to drive to the beach and play "identify the year of the car by only the tail lights", I was about 7 when we started this. Knowing the make and model was a gimme.
Picking the Porsche '88 911 Turbo wasn't an easy choice, I had to seriously think about it this morning The '63 split window is an easy choice. If I were forced to pick a modern dream car, I would have to go with: Maserati MC12

Something about the Saleen S7 holds a special place in my heart for the supercar choice...
![]() But for old school muscle I would have to say... The 1968 427 stingray corvette ![]() The 1968 428 shelby cobra ![]() The mighty Buick GSX stage 1 w/the 455 ![]() And you can't deny this beast of a Boss Mustang
