Laptop Tech Question

The display in my laptop is starting to go out. Have developed several vertical lines across the display and am thinking about replacing it. I know that we have a lot of tech savvy folks on here so is there anyone that has done this, and if so, where should I go for a replacement screen?

I know I will probably get the standard, "It's not worth it, just replace" comments, but everything else runs like the day I bought it and I can justify a new screen expense versus a new laptop expense. Besides I cannot find a manufacturer that has a 17" or larger laptop that is willing to NOT put the numeric keypad on the side. So any suggestions on a replacement screen source would be welcome if you have them.

who makes your laptop? you can find replacement screens and replace it.. you can google for a source and just order it yourself if you are out of warranty... simple ribbon connector is all.

all the manufacturers that offer warranty send replacement screens all the time...

It is a Dell Inspiron 9300 (I know had it for, gulp, 5 yrs). Have looked on-line but have found prices varying from $150 - $400 for new. Just didn't know if anyone had had any luck with any particular company/site since there is such a wide range of price points for the same manufacturer part number.
