The LS3 is a motor made by GM. Check the link:
GM LS engines - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia LS series motors are very popular for cramming into tight engine bays of lightweight cars on this side of the water. I bet the sounds from the R1 motor in that car are quite surprising! haha If I were to jam something into a lightweight track car, it would have to be the Hartley V8 motor based off of two Yamaha GSX1300R motors. 2.8L V8 that sings at 10,000RPM and possibly higher. ![]() Check it out: Hartley H1V8 Motor Specifications

![]() I would love to mess around with a small, high-strung V8, but my car's body and chassis that the powerplant/driveline will be dragging around is not lightweight. It's going to need a bit more motor than 2.8L. Stinks that I've got some money tied up in the shell, otherwise I'd get rid of it and go with something lighter/smaller.

OT, but speaking of stuffing big GM V8s into vehicles...
here's a pic of a BossHoss m'cycle I had the chance to wring out for most of one day. Fabulous, but a bit scary at first, even having ridden many species of m'cycles for 45 years. The sound is amazing, the pickup is linear and very fast. The handling is so-so. GL, mD
