BlackBerry Torch

Anyone get the BlackBerry Torch that came out yesterday ? I did---pretty good phone. Should help RIM bridge the gap in the "fun phone" segment.

I love my current Blackberry Bold 9650 more than any phone I have had previously. I need a phone to a) make calls, b) check emails/texts, and c) be my pocket calendar. BB does these things as well or better than any other type phone. If I wanted a phone to be my gaming device, web surfing device, or primary pocket computer, I would go for something else, too.

So, I am very much looking forward to future Blackberry devices, as they continue to expand their abilities, while retaining focus on the primary reasons all of us have them.

Well put. Mine is a 9700 Bold; it does exactly what you list, better than anything else out there.

Finally, the BB gets a webkit browser, but too bad the CPU is slow for today's standard...BB should have put a faster CPU instead the same "slow" 624 MHz CPU that last year's phone was using...

How much CPU do you need to get things done? It's not a gaming/entertainment device after all.

The benchmark for today's smartphone is 1Ghz....... by x-mas it will be 1.3Ghz, ....... the difference is substantial from 500-600 Mhz to 1Ghz....

Although BB was innovative in the past, they will be playing catch up to android and apple ........

I don't know why people keep trying to compare the Torch to Apple and Droids. Good article from yesterday.

With any consumer products, whether is autos, tv's, camera's etc., why wouldn't you compare one product to another in the same category ..... w/o comparison it would be difficult to judge the best product for your money ...
