Winter is sneaking in here too...

We don't have the first snow that MD is seeing, except for a dusting on the mountains, but it has been down to 5 C or so (low 40s on the US scale). MD got out for a walk in another recent thread and had some great shots of the countryside, so it inspired me to take a camera along on our walk today. For those that know the area, we went through downtown Vancouver to Coal Harbour, through Stanley Park, and back to False Creek via English Bay. The fact that there were clouds, bright sun, and lots of contrast led me to try some playing around HDR shots. Nikon D70, 18-70 mm kit lens, AE bracketing (-2/0/+2) with continuous shooting turned on, hand held. They are all essentially just snapshots of the neighbourhood, but I wanted to see what effects I could play with. Yes, I know I need to clean the sensor. Next time.

1 Canada Place, the cruise ship terminal for the Alaska run, empty at the end of the season.
2-4 Coal Harbour, the float plane terminal, and lots of glass highrises facing the water, Stanley Park, and the North Shore mountains
5-6 Entry to Stanley Park
7 English Bay, strangely devoid of sailboats on a Sunday, as the summer races are over, and the Frostbite series starts later.
8 Back home in False Creek, from a passenger ferry.
9 The Aqua Bus ferry that we took out to a restaurant for lunch, single shot, as it was in motion.

Thanks for looking.

Cool Pics, JCL!
Makes the buildings look ethereal, or Ministry of Truth-ish...
Very well done triple bracket with no 'pod.

Beautiful! I think I should visit your fine city one of these days. I hear it's nice there.

Come home anytime. In picture #7, at the left edge, you can see the RVYC, and all the masts. (or is that Jericho, I get all those posh west side clubs mixed up) Anyway, I think they may take you back.
