Hellacious Storms...

Hope you all are doing OK. We lived through Hurricanes Ivan & Frances, that hit us square in the teeth up here on the Mtn, but the winds the past few days, increasing to house rocking force the past few hours, are nearly fookin indescribable. We are gonna 'sleep' with clothes and shoes on, and one eye open, in case we have to beat it.

Usually 'unique' weather up here at 5,000 ft on the Mtn; tonight it is just plain freakin scary...

For those of you in the eye of the 'Nadoes, or even the regular strong stuff, Good Luck.

Thank you, B...
Gonna keep the upstairs puter on, refreshing the radar.
The destruction through several states is remarkable; maybe the
worst tornado/severe storm outbreak in history.

MaNature is incredibly powerful.

Central Virginia has been battered all afternoon and evening by strong storms. Lots of T-storms, hail around here, and funnel clouds in the county north of me (Stafford Co.). Lot of Tornado warnings but luckily, nothing like that they're gettin in Alabama.

The good news: I won't need to water the lawn and plants tomorrow!

Be safe out there guys.

I'm with AzN... Was going to pressure wash the house tomorrow (wedding and all on Sat) but looks like mother nature will handle that.

Crossing fingers that 4Runner and X5 don't get hail damage. Maybe tomorrow A.M. I'll buy blankets, big car covers, and bungees.... His & Hers 3000GT garage ornaments will be safe inside, at least.

Oh, and Dr. Forbes said earlier today that in his career he's never seen a tornado day like today. Just wild. Kind of puts things in perspective when we think we have "problems"... could always be worse.

We lucked out, compared to the poor people with shattered houses and, the ~180 dead human beings...

Went outside at daybreak to chainsaw the limbs and trees down across the drive, so we can get out today.

Up here, most of the trees have not leafed out yet, so the resistance the towering oaks, et al, could put up, was lessened; thus, not as bad as it would have been a few weeks from now.

Checked on a couple neighbors, and our resident weather nut said the high wind speed on his anemometer was 82 mph.

Have lived up here for ~ 10 yrs and, even the 'Canes we have had have never shaken the house so badly. The gusts were incredible and the constant change of wind direction gave this coop a thorough azz shaking. Wasn't a fun night, but it pales to those who woke up to destruction or, losing their people.

Hope everyone reading came through ok...stuff can get fixed.

I have a friend in north Alabama who kept texting me yesterday, as he had no power, internet or other form of outside comms. He and his were fine, but surrounded by lots of death & destruction. Very sad.

A friend of mine has a missing family member in Alabama right now who's house was torn apart by a tornado.... not looking good. And I heard the death toll is well over 200 now. One hell of a storm!

My school had a tornado lock down but nothing happened. Neighboring towns did get some damage though.
