CLS550 3K miles or E63 9K miles

I'm torn and I hope that folks on this forum have enough experience with these cars to express their opinion.

I'm looking at a 2011 CLS550 with 3K miles on it for $68K (asking) and a 2010 E63 with 9K miles for $76K (asking).

CLS looks good and drives very well. It has all the comfort and convenience features I can think of and it has enough power/torque to go. However, its styling is too much of a staple of an "expensive" car. I'm afraid to project a wrong image of myself at the company parking lot where the majority of cars are below the 35 grand mark when they were new.

E63 has more power to go and it is more stealthy, especially, if the AMG badge and E63 designation are removed from the trunk lid. I doubt that many people would be able to tell the difference. But it costs more and has more miles on it.

If we temporarily ignore the "wrong image" aspect, which of these two cars looks more appealing to you?

Thanks!

CLS550. Don't use the company parking lot. Good luck.

if gas is a problem get the cls 550 for sureeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, but otherwise i would take the e63 anyday. If you didn't know the cls 550 is a 4 seater and the e63 is a 5 seater, take a look into a s550 im sure you'll like it, get the e63 if you dont like the s550... Good Luck

Who cares about image in the company parking lot. I drive my vette to work 3x a week at least and most of the cars cost far less. Drive what you want, let the haters hate.

I've never really understood the CLS "4 door coupe" concept. While an interesting design study, it is best described as it was by some auto journalist as "the answer to a question no one asked". The first time I sat in one I felt like the roof was closing in on me and I'm not a tall guy. That feeling is not befitting a luxury sedan.

I have Geezer buds at the CC, that have one of each; I've only driven either, a short way, so not exactly a user opin, but...
agree with PNG/K on the styling and seeming headroom/view looking out on the CLS550. If someone was giving me one, I would take the e63 AMG.

As for mpg, neither one is exactly a miser: my buds tell me ~12-15, unless it's a long trip, but they don't care about gas cost(s).
And, I'm with Thunder: don't know where you work, but fook 'em and drive what you want into the Co parking lot.

Went through that same process in 2008..CLS63 vs E63....the back seat and overall high beltline of the CLS made me shy away as at the time I was dropping my kids off at school each day and the back seat arrangement did not work (they could only exit from the passenger side)..E63 interior seemed dated and boring....went out and ordered a loaded E70 4.8 and was happy...looking back I wished I had found an E63 wagon in the right combo....LOVE the stealth of a high powered wagon (though not the sexiest cars out there) like an E63, RS4/RS6 Avant....

I'd opt for the E63 and de-badge it....

Thank you for your opinions! I am working on the numbers and if those come out right, I'll make room for the E63 in the garage. If not, I'll just let the haters hate

I swap out golf-pooling to distant courses with a friend who has a CLS550. I'm not a big fan of the styling. A couple of problems: it's really hard to figure out where the car ends (his is loaded but does not have PDC (or whatever the Mercedes equivalent is)). Also, it's difficult/awkward to get to cart bags in the trunk. I get my friend to put my bag in because I don't want to scratch up the paint. I've never sat in the back but I'm not a fan of the high window line in this style of car.
