Arrow Caddy CTS-V Track day

I went to Caddy CTS-V track event over the weekend. It was a nice experience for me to see how a CTS-V with 556hp feels on a track where I have previously done a M3 with Competition package and a X5M.

Drove both the coupe and sedan.

The CTS-V has good handling on the track and no shortage of power when you need it. They use Brembo brakes and had experts from Brembo onsite to give product tech reviews. Having driven the 2011 M3 on the same track the CTS-V handling was little less than M3's handling, which is mostly due to the weight. CTS-V being almost 500 lbs heavier than M3(can't defy the laws of physics).
Overall CTS-V is a good car for under $70k and something to consider if you want more room than M3 and don't want to use on track as much. Funny that they were using E60 M5 for comparison in their slides.

Andy Pilgrim was there(in 3rd pic below)and so was John Heinricy who broke the world's fastest production sedan record at Nürburgring with CTS-V.

Impressive numbers for sure. I really like the look of the coupe. I've seen a few on the road, and they remind me of an F22 with their angular lines!

Numbers are definitely impressive, but what did you think of the interior? Also the CTS-V is not alone when falling short of the ///M3 on it's turf (the track). The E92 ///M3 is the most well balanced BMW I've owned and I'm no noob to BMW. It doesn't have the best "Ring" time, it's not the fastest in the 1/4 mile, and I could list other things. But it is the best overall car in the segment for sure. What other car can you take to the office Mon thru Friday with absolute joy and then change your wheels (or not) and be on the track kickin' ass and taking names Saturday morning. It's hard to imitate or duplicate ///M heritage and performance...................Phil

Interior is not bad. I think they are trying hard, its better than Lexus interior and better than the Audi Q5 interior, I drove recently. Its not a bimmer. We have some Corvette owners here. Is the vette interior sub-par to BMW?

Phil, talking about well balanced, have you driven a 1M coupe yet?

I haven't, but we have one in our car club. I'm hoping to get some time in it at one of our track days. I would imagine that the short wheel base and the weight makes for a great ride. Speaking of short wheel base, I'm thinking about taking the Cooper S to the track in the near future. Have you driven the 1M yet?.....Phil

Let me know what you think of it. I won't hit the track again until the 27th of this month or the 3rd of next month. Hopefully I can get a session in................Phil

Yup, big numbers for sure but does it have the balance Phil talks about and the feel of a car in the same league as BMW and Audi?
