That was an incredible sight! Those people coming together to lift that E60 up was very impressive not just for the sheer strength but the fact that people actually risked their lives and did it in the first place. It's reassuring to see such humanity.

The only question I have is where is the BMW's driver?

Yes, remarkable Samaritan effort...some stuff could have really gone wrong, but didn't.
BB/R, the Nat news suggested the driver helped...dunno, but I'm guessing he was the guy
in the suit in initial footage, but couldn't tell if he did do some lifting. Every time I see a m'cycle
down it gives me pause, and makes me reconsider.

He is a professor or other staff at the local university and the motorcyclist was a student there. It's a university town. Apparently he uninjured but very shaken and was very concerned about the motorcyclist. (Notice I don't call anyone a victim.)

I totally disagree - factory jacks barely lift the car enough to get the tire off the ground and are pretty unstable. That combined with unloading the whole trunk digging around for the tools, etc. would take far longer than 20 seconds.

Besides, if the guy underneath the car was on fire, don't you think the additional seconds or minutes of burns could cause much more significant injuries? I prefer not to burn personally! I thought the reaction was commendable and heroic personally.

the actions of the public was indeed commendable but how long did it take them .
the car driver should have the sense to react quickly to such a situation .
I personally can change a wheel in one minute , from stopping the car to having everything packed away again neatly takes one minute and I am not Superman .
if you stay cool you can achieve things quickly .
