I first heard of origin when i saw one of their projects. They made a crazy gaming pc with a xbox 360 built in with water cooling and junk. 13k better kick ass. If you really want a nice gaming pc for a good price you should select the parts and put it together. I made a couple for friends and its fun. I can help you find parts if your interested. But if your still just looking to buy a ready made pc the last time i shopped Voodoo pc(HP owned) and Alienware (Dell) where the big names.

Home built is not that bad to do and you get what YOU want. In the end you might not save any money but you get to choose everything, you have a better understanding of how your computer works, and you won't get all the stupid bloatware that comes with ready made.

I remember Voodoo and Alienware as the big gaming box makers too.

If you want a fast PC for the money, look at cyberpowerpc.com Their customizations and prices are great. I got a "gaming" PC but I'm not a "gamer" -- I just like fast. They have gaming laptops too but I can't speak to those.

I bought mine from there two years ago. Just replaced the motherboard and added a 6Gbps SATA II drive today. Sometime soon, I'll replace the processor with something like the Intel Core i7 990X.

This year, I've bought two family PCs, both HP's each for under $350, but I don't think that's what you're looking for. I got each of those set up on my home network, all excess software removed, using my network printers, etc. in under 45 minutes.

He ended up buying a Asus laptop that is set-up for gamers. My brother has had very bad luck with Dell's and would not even look at them. I still see Dell in the corporate world but understand that are different models. I think the Dell laptops are really Acers, does not speak well of Dell or Acer.

My 4 years old Mac Book Pro has not been great as well. It has had the motherboard/video card fail and the hard drive fail. I am sure glad that I went with the three year protection plan. My wife's Mac Book also had the motherboard die, that cost me $400+/-.

So I guess laptops in general have a very short reliable life. I still use my Mac Book and have no plans to upgrade unless it fails again. One thing is clear that you must back-up any laptop!
