The whole idea that the red light cameras are maintained and enforced by private companies is fraught with issues. They are for profit and have a huge financial incentive to screw people out of as much money as possible. It is well known that these companies have purposely shortened the times of the phases of traffic lights in order to "catch" more people.
I am all for preventing red light running as I think it is more dangerous than speeding alone, but when these companies are manipulating the game to increase their profits, the cameras should be removed.
