As most of you know, last month I lost Cooper, who had been my shadow for some seven years.
 But three weeks later, as drex put it, God sent me a gift. My wife and I found Amber and her littermates on the side of the road (someone had dumped them). We adopted this little thing; her brothers and sisters were taken to the humane society, who found good homes for them.
