'Citizen' Checkpoints...

Copped this, (no pun), from the B'fest board.
I think it's legit...not sure of location, but I suspect AZ.
Pretty fookin chilling vid, imo.

The guy kept his cool...
If a few more of these 'are you a US citizen' checkpoints pop up around other areas of the US, I suspect even the WalmartNation gang will get a little pizzed.

Kinda caught them POPO'S off guard. Sounds like something I would

Being born and raised in a police state I can vouch that the US is a Police State - the cops have unrestricted, unchecked power and there are so many laws in the books that a law abiding person can end up in a jail just because he is wearing wrong color pants on a wrong day in a wrong town... And a lot of laws are written to punish a percieved INTENT and not actual crime... Say, someone is busted for INTENT TO SELL... or for intent to j-walk!! that is one of the reasons every person should have a DVR recording of all traffic stops... A police can ask for person's driver's license while person is driving, and check for alcohol but the citizenship has nothing to do with driving - do not allow illegals to have dr. license, so if there is no license, than the cops will have reason to detain a person, if there is a license, than the Dept of vehicles checked the credentials before issuing the docs... and the passenger should not be obligated to produce anything - but we all know that if you want to avoid being tased and drenched in your own blood, you should comply...

QwkAg...Wow!
Not to sound like some anarchist hiding out in the hills, that link lead to some remarkable vids. I just spent an hour perusing and zooming through the Anderson deal, the military guy detained, et al.

We rolled across the US/CDA border at 4 points on our trip last summer, and in hindsight it struck me that the initial questioner was overly dramatic, obtuse and pretty freakin nosey, imo. We got sent to 'secondary' once, but they decided to not dig through the trunk of the Vette too much. Wish I had had vid of those initial questioning techniques that we encountered, but not sure I have/would have had the ballz to stonewall them...

I hope there aren't a few paragraphs buried in the hardly patriotic 'Patriot Act' that covers this kind of gestapo bs, at border crossings or at checkpoints.

From the bunker...

It says it is Southern California at the top of the page, but wouldn't be surprised if it was in Southern Arizona. I-8 goes from Casa Grande, AZ over to San Diego, CA.

Dude has cajones talking to cops that way!

My brother; I can guarantee that there are paragraphs buried in the hardly patriotic 'Patriot Act' that covers this kind of gestapo stuff, at border crossings or at checkpoints.

Kudos to him for standing up for his rights.

I have a problem with a roadblock, for two reasons: It is an inconvenience for me, and there is no probable cause to ask or detain.

Interesting other videos...really stupid agents "Sir, what I'm gonna need for you to do for me real quick".

I'd love the play this game...but I learned at a very, very early age that cops lie.

I've heard, it is illegal to videotape actions of cops (public officials) performing their job (public duties) on the street (public areas) by a bystander (public) in Maryland, based on some electronic eavesdropping laws... someone was facing upto 15 years for doing that!!!

How about the other states?

.

No it is not..but cops and DAs are coming down on the public for doing this. There is no expectation of privacy for public acts.

People are getting charged with felony wiretap violations, but it is an abuse of power and intimidation.

IMO

And the maryland case was the infamous helmet cam- police lost the case, AND here is the new baltimre policy:

Quote:
Police photo, video policy
Upon discovery that a bystander is observing, photographing, or video recording the conduct of police activity:
1. DO NOT impede or prevent the bystander's ability to continue doing so based solely on your discovery of his/her presence.
2. DO NOT seize or otherwise demand to take possession of any camera or video recording device the bystander may possess based solely on your discovery of his/her presence.
3. DO NOT demand to review, manipulate, or erase any images or video recording captured by the bystander based solely on your discovery of his/her presence.
4. For investigative purposes, be mindful of the potential that the bystander may witness, or capture images/video of events considered at some later time to be material evidence.
5. BEFORE taking any police action which would stop a bystander from observing, photographing, or video recording the conduct of police activity, Officer(s) must have observed the bystander committing some act [deemed criminal, such as obstruction, disorderly conduct or interfering with an officer's lawful duties].
