Fuel - Cruddy lookin Name brand or Brand new Off brand

Just curious. This question came up for me this morning and was curious as to how you guys would respond.

I had the choice of fueling at an old run down Shell station whose diesel pumps to my surprise were in fact on a paved surface although they were remotely located away from the other standard pumps (just to give a visual) OR Filling up at a brand new Quick Check (mini market w/gas station for those who don't know what a quick check is). I mean new new. I've been driving by this location since it was a barren parcel of land.

I went with the quick check after asking around my co-workers whom QC are local to them and they've used them with success (and prefer them).

Thus far, the only thing I've filled up with are Exxon, Mobil, and Shell. She likes Exxon the best (mpg wise) around here although generally Mobil's been the cheapest.
