Whistle Check out new M5/M6 review on Feb '06 R&T Mag

R&T did a comparo with M5 and M6. Both will do 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds! The M6 has a slightly higher trap speed at the 1/4 mile and the M6 will start pulling away from the M5 after 100 mph or so.

M6 is lighter and handles slightly better; M5 has room for 5 people. IMHO, M6 looks better....the M5 is the best looking 5-series.

STATS:
M5/M6 0-30 mph 1.7 seconds!
M5/M6 0-60 mph 4.1 seconds
M5 0-100 mph 9.5 sec/M6 9.2 sec
M5 0-120 mph 13.3 sec/M6 12.7 sec
1/4 mile: M5 12.4 @ 115.8 mph/M6 12.4 @ 118.1 mph

60-0 mph M5 120 ft/M6 119 ft
80-0 mph M5 207 ft/M6 209 ft

Lat accel M5 0.87 g/M6 0.88g (200 ft skidpad)
Slalom speed M5 68.9 mph/M6 69.5 mph (700 ft slalom, 100 ft spacing)

Curb weight: M5 4035 lbs/M6 3770 lbs

Both M5/M6 averaged around 11 mpg

R&T M5 vs. M6

for 91K and 106K I'd almost expect those times...considering that crazy Z06 still beats those times for less money

Those cars are crazy money and as far as bang for your buck, the C6 is hard to beat, Z06 or not. I just couldn't bring myself to buy one. They are not my style and don't turn my crank like German cars. It's like your 996. There are plenty of faster cars for less money but none as cool.

Hehehe I guess I will wait another 5 years so one of these babies nears its life's end to be replaced by the new generation. Then I will be very tempted to pick a CPOed one for half the price. Until then, dream!

The new ZO6 is amazing for the money. The quality is way better then the C5 as well. The C6 design was leaned towards German car owners. I like it.

I would expect M6 to be quicker from 0-60 since it's carries less weight.

Yah, I wouldn't buy a ZO6 either...rather be in the 996 any day
