Happy Birthday to My X5...

Our 2001 turned 11 years old today! Actually it has an 8/01 build date, but we got it this day in 2001, a weekish after 9-11.

I like birthdays, people's and cars, and I usually put up new pics of the X every year. Maybe it's jes' me.

Took it for a little spin this morning up on the Blue Ridge Parkway and pulled over at Scott Run, at 5050 ft elevation, for some quick pics. I had washed it a week ago, but it was a quick wash, no detail and no Zaino this time. Inside is not real clean, and I noticed the dirty pedals after I shot the pics.

I always rave about our X, and it has been a remarkable car, in terms of performance, reliability, very few glitches, with barely of handful of repairs post warranty, and it runs right down the fookin road. It has just under 85,000 miles on the odo...

Unless something really serious goes Kaboom!, I suspect I will keep it a few more years. Some pics from this morning. Thanks for looking and Happy Eleventh to our X5!

She looks fantastic! Headlights are still clear, no serious buckshot on the leading edge, bumpers and door skins free from dings and dents, roof rails and rockers still black as coal - you clearly don't like in Southern California where the hot sun beats up a car pretty good.

I guess things in the motordavid household just age well. That goes for cars, wine, and the people.

Thank you for the looks and kind words...I know it's sort of dorky, but hey, I'm an old dork.
-L, yes: skinny ol'fanny, but those seats are perfect fit for V & I, as she drives it more than 50% on our road trips. They do feel like my 30+ yr old m'cycle jackets.
-Seth: not fanatical, and a couple cars 'sit' alot, in the garage; plus I have the 'time' to lean on them.
-LeMans/S: no new car on horizon for us = big expense in buying a new one, and this X and the Vette just keep rolling. Even an expensive 'fix' is way cheaper than a new car, if/when it comes to repairs, imo. And, the cars that get my attention are $75-$100Gs...
-PNG/K: a lil' Meguiars or whatever brand of 'back to black' one likes, a few times a year...thanks for the props but the cars and vino cellar are ageing 'better' than the owners, here. ;>)

Hopefully your X5 didn't ask for any birthday presents.

My 330xi is 12 years old next week and I've already given it a few birthday presents like a new VC gasket, vanos seals and CCV system. It runs like new again so it must be happy with the presents - for now at least.
