What car did you drive to high school?

Me? I "drove" a bicycle and my feet, then I drove a 1981 Datsun.

This kid?

White 1972 Torana XU 1 LJ, same production car won Bathurst the same year.

Those days production cars were only allowed to race.

I walked city streets to the school, as there were no schoolbus system - all kids walked. I was lucky, as I walked only couple of kilometers and crossed only 2 major intersection from 1st grade on. I took subway and bus to the college, and if I had the money and was late, I would splurge into taxi - in 4 years of college it must've happened only a couple of times... not that i was late only couple of times - i only had enough money couple of times to pay for it... lol...

Just for record, where I went to school, most men would get their first car around the age of 30-40 if they were lucky enough (no women drove cars)... I talked online to some of my peers who still live there and they had their first cars well into their married years with kids and a decent job...

Not everyone is as fortunate as the kids in the US...

I walked, (not quite a mile...no buses). I hitched occasionally, or begged my ol'man for a ride if I was late and he was leaving then.

Then, my junior year, circa 1964, I got a very used 1952 Ford flathead V8, 3 spd on the tree. Burned oil, ran just OK, but it was my first car!

That Lambo in the school parking lot is not utterly surprising...I guess times and parental overcompensation are slightly different today. ...

A pic below of a '52 Ford, from the web, though mine was a 2 door and looked better.

I went to school in a $50,000 bus. All I can say about that Lambo is "sounds like kidnap bait to me." But I am sure the parents already considered that and determined that their 15 yo daughter will be OK.
