This is absolutely frightening. It is so difficult to know whether a body shop has substituted an OEM unit with one of these fakes, whether for added profit or they getting scammed by suppliers. When it is discovered it will be too late for the vehicle owner. I have even heard of body shops not replacing airbag at all and pocketing the money.

This is why I stick with good insurance companies. Often it's them who want the cheaper products and tell the body shop to use non-oem parts
