Audi first timer...Uh oh...

OK dont flame me, but....Since I sell many cars, one would think I get to experience many different types of cars....I guess in a way I do, but usually low-mid end models, because they sell FAST....Well after some time "in the game", I picked up my first Audi and drove it back to my place. A 1998 A4. Umm, I always thought the only "claim to fame" or authority Audi had to be a Bimmer contender, was just because they were Deutsch engineered...Uh, I think I was wrong...This thing drives like a monster...Small engine, so not so fast, but holy cow it can handle....Nice acceleration and treated the bends like candy...

One thing though will cause me never to buy one, and its those damn red dash lights!! I hate that!! Anyway, I think Im going to have to get behind the wheel of a 3er again, just to bring me back to reality, and realizing who "really" is best...LOL..

I had a 1997 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro with the Sport Package. That car handled great, and the little turbo 150hp engine pulled great for city purposes. Once you're on the highway though, you will be no faster than any other 4-banger out there.

I am sure that is not the case with Audi's new 2.0T FSI variant. That thing makes 200hp, and is all wheel drive.

In my opinion, the current A4 line-up offers very good competition to BMW, and feature-wise, is much more competitive than the C-Class. It's outdated - you don't even get a standard alarm system or rain-sensing wipers!

If you like that, imagine what a 340 hp 2004 S4 does... My dad choose it over an M3.

While I am more of a fan for Audi's S and RS-cars, I must admit the M3 is a faster machine. It weighs less, handles better, and accelerates better.

However the S4 is offered in wagon, sedan and cabrio form, with an available auto, plus AWD! Too many pluses here!

EDIT: Oh, and the S4 costs much less...at least in Canada.

New Audi's look like @ss though. I would never choose the V8 Audi over an E46 M3, however a Bi-Turbo S4 definitely is an option

A business associate of mine has a 2002 S4 and we're always banging heads (for fun) on the Audi vs BMW thing. IMO the Audi has a nicer interior but I'm not too fond of the exterior styling. The S4 has plenty of pull but my 330xi isn't too far behind. My 300xi with KW V1 coilovers has better handling and seems more balanced. The S4 is too quiet. After driving my car he went out and installed a CAI and exhaust so he could hear his engine.
