Ray Dolby, Off to Valhalla...
When his first and later variations hit the audio and movie mkt, it was a remarkable change to audio. And, it is still around and improved over time, and nearly ubiquitous, save for the mp3 gang that has never heard really good 'high fidelity' in audio.
