The issue as I see it is that the genie is out of the bottle. Either ban all GMO seeds, and the importation/exportation of them, or agree that it is now impossible to track where they are and how they cross-contaminate non-GMO seeds. So the issue isn't whether there is a conspiracy. It is that collectively we don't know. And trying to track it would cost a fortune. Hence the lobbying. Look at the Euro GMO regulations. Excludes all food additives. Excludes processing enzymes. Excludes meat, dairy, and eggs. Even if the animals in question grow up on GMO feed. Then read the label on your cookie box. It says no GMO. Great. Rest easy. Except for the wide range of products that are in there which are GMO, but which have official exemptions from reporting rules. So what is the benefit of reporting in that scenario? And is it possible to track every additive or processing enzyme? How about cross contamination between fields of GMO and non-GMO products? On a tomato or an apple, I get it. GMO or not, one product under consideration at a time, it would be possible I think. On a processed product, it is almost impossible. And for the fruit or vegetable situation, just tighten up and define what organic means, legally, and include GMO in the organic exclusion list. Those foods are reasonably straightforward to make a decision on.

I don't think it is a conspiracy really. I think it is free enterprise. I think the companies that are making money, are trying to continue making money, via keeping shit the same, just so happens that here it is labeling.
Yea I totally get the point of being able to monitor it. But if these companies can drop $45 mil to fight one bill, in one state, they can afford to drop some money to get the majority of their ingredients labeled and tracked. I doubt people will all of a sudden just stop buying oreos, or diet soda. It is just scary to not know what is in my food. That is all I really want. Just look at the current labels, does anyone really know what is in it when you can't even pronounce some of the shit. Here is a little example of what I want to be labeled as GMO. Aspartame. Also known as phenylalanine dipeptide, or phenylalanine. So anyone reading this, and if you are eating or drinking something diet or sugar free, look at the label. Do you see aspartame, or phenylalanine. Yea, have fun reading this little article. Pay attention how that shit is actually made. Poop for Thought: Aspartame Made from E.coli Feces

I hear you, but I just think that if people are willing to put artificial sweeteners in their bodies, knowing the risks involved, then the whole GMO issue is sort of moot. Why would one worry about GMO with unknown risks, but not about artificial sweeteners with known risks? It doesn't seem logical. And if people worry about what they are eating, why are diet sodas and Oreos even on the shopping list?
If you want to know what is going into your body, stop buying processed food. Get your vegetables, meat, and dairy, from known local sources. It doesn't eliminate all the problems, but it is a huge step in the right direction.

Oh no, I am not talking about myself so much. I've cleaned up my act for the past 7 months or so. Lost 40lbs as a direct result too.
I just get tight when I'm on a job, and can't get anything to eat in this damn city that I don't need an iphone for. I close my eyes and eat whatever looks more not factory made.

Way to not understand how alcohol is made in beer. (and let's not forget carbonation...)

Dude, I can make my own alcohol. And we still have a family farm in Russia. I promise you there was not GMO anything there. And I can make beer too, can you? Doubt it.
