BMW 1-Series as Sporty Three-Door (spy shots)

I like it
The 2nd pic is the interior of a 4-door.

At the upcoming Geneva Motor Show BMW will release the sporty three-door variant of the current 1-Series model which so far was available as a five-door only.

The three-door’s side doors are larger, and the B-pillars are set further back within the wheel-base. The pictured prototype has no disguise, and judging from the double exhaust pipes the car is equipped with a 3.0 litre six cylinder fuel engine delivering about 250 HP.

The 1-Series three-door model is expected to be in the dealerships from summer 2006 on.

There's an article about it in the new Roundel. I haven't read it yet, but the article looks pretty in depth.

I like it... (But then again, I liked that 318ti, and the Z3/M coupe, so it might just be me!)
There's just something about these pint-sized, perfectly balanced RWD cars that makes a BLAST to drive.

If it keeps the 39.9" headroom, I'd buy it - I'd like to see the X5 in a 2-door, ok, 3-door, counting the hatch - how many of us have banged their head on the sharp corner of the door? - move the pillar back, ditch the rear seats, put in a roll bar, add 4-point seat belts - those would be my improvements

They need to do something about those taillights that look like they were taken off a Kia. It is otherwise a very clean, sleek, great lookin car.

Sounds like you're a tall guy, too...
I must say that one thing I do miss about my 3 coupe was not having the the B-pillar always in my way - whether I'm looking over my shoulder for traffic, or just resting my arm on the window sill, the X5's B-pillar is too far forward for me
