Somewhat of an introduction.. but am I growing up, kind of?

I have lurked around this place for awhile, made a couple posts about extended warranty, wheels/tires etc; but never really introduced myself. Hi, I'm jason and I am an alcoholic... no, just kidding. I am a car-aholic though.

I bought an X5 last fall, am thoroughly enjoying it, but also have a somewhat heavily modified g35 coupe as well. Insert picture here:

I think it is time to move on from the g35.. It is supercharged, has had 3 sets of wheels now, suede interior, one-off brake setup, rare body kit, suede interior etc etc. Not to mention the car is a year and half old and only has 7400 miles on it. I used to get in the car, put the 380+whp to the ground and be happy, but now I am just kind of bored with it. I actually prefer to drive the X5 on the weekends, 75% because there is no hassle and I can drive with a reckless abandon. The X5 is a 2000 4.4 with 50k, M steering wheel and 20" 4.6 wheels. Insert picture here (haven't taken one yet.. maybe this weekend).

The X5 is in immaculate condition for being a 2000, but has a few quirks: steering wheel makes a small squeak when the wheel is turned in any direction (very faint), the radio likes to cut all sound out every once in awhile when starting the car but other than that I am happy with the "truck." Luckily my buddy who was a mechanic for Nissan just got a job as a mechanic for BMW; so it's just a matter of time before getting him out to my place to install my Axxis brake pads and fix my little issues.

However, I have been bitten by a small bug I like to call the "Arden Range Rover Sport bug." Insert picture here:

I keep going back and forth on whether to sell the X5 and pick up the RR, but just can't figure out what I want to do. I know some people say RR's have issues and that it's basically just a BMW. I am going to test drive one this weekend and see what I think.. If anyone wants to add some personal experience with the RR Sport, feel free.

Anyways, sorry for the long-winded hello, just figured I would officially try to 'weasel' my way into the group; maybe even grab a shout out on next weeks freaky friday (you see what I did there, with the two stickied lounge topic reference?? eh? eh? haha.. okay..

-jason

Sell the G.
Keep the X.
Post pics of the X.
Buy the new X this fall.
Forget the RR.

Congrats, nonetheless. Nice cars. And... welcome. Officially.

Juan

Very nice G I'm actually thinking that a G may (*may*) replace my 325ci depending on how the new E92 coupe looks like...
That RR looks amazing

Thanks for all the kind words everyone.. Depending how the test drive goes and how much slack my english buddy (salesman) gives me, we will see what I come up with. I really really love the Arden styling for the RR Sport, I think it looks outstanding. However, if I kept the X5, I'd probably do some very classy looking 3-piece 22" wheels to hold me off.

Speaking of growing-up, I am going to move up in the world from a condo to a house in a year and a half, so it might be wise to keep a car with a lower payment for financing and all that.. we'll see.

Welcome officially to our board! Really sick G35 you have there and I like the RR Sport as well. But have never heard of Arden body styling for RR. Didn't know Elizabeth Arden is into making body styling.

Ah all that money! If you can look at a Rover, you should seriously consider investing in some pre-owned cars such as:

2001-2003 M5
2001-2005 S500 Sport, S600, S55 AMG
2004-2005 E55 AMG
2004-2006 X5 4.4i, X5 4.8is

Basically what I am saying is that if you can afford a Rover, there might be much better cars you could also afford...

And... :xoutpost:

It is hard to look at those cars, when my g35 is faster at half the price. Granted it's a glorified nissan with modifications, but it's hard to swallow spending so much on a car that isn't going to throw you back in the seat (with exception to the S55 and E55 of course). Plus, insurance for a 23 year old on an E55 is pretty high

I looked into keeping the X5 and getting a 01-03 porsche turbo cabrio as well.. I think I am having a quarter life crisis
