Lockable storage in any X5?

Interesting post on another site.

Just got a 2013 X5 and and unless I'm blind the only lockable storage area is the rear floor deck where the tools are.
The glove box doesn't lock nor does the center console, am I missing something? It's a PITA when the rear is loaded with stuff.
You get an easily removable key on the fob but almost nothing to lock.

Like all sites the guy got bashed about Valet parking when the OP never asked about that. To me it's a good question
because our 530 trunk locks with the Key and isn't accessible from the inside even if you break a window which we really like.

So,,,, Does a new X5 have a comparable area to secure items? (Not the glove box.)

You just made me realized that I actually don't have any lockable storage area in my MCoupe after owning it all these years ( and at the same time).

Cost cutting made by bean counters are unbelievable these day.

Reviving a one month old thread... I wonder if the glove box latch locks when you lock the car. Similar to the gas door on some model bmw's. Even then, it still sucks since anything in the glove box will be open whenever you vallet the car.

Depends on which model vehicle your talking about. My X is a 2005 4.4 and yes the glove box locks
but I wouldn't call that a secure option to store anything of value. If you valet the vehicle locking it will
do you no good since you turn over the key to the driver.

In the case of the E60 you turn over the ignition key to move the vehicle but you keep
the locking key for both the trunk and the glove box. better option IMHO.

There is lockable storage in the rear for e70's with the third row option.
