Any of you folks in IT Support???

...just wondering what is your biggest PC or LAN headache. I found this survey on what sucks up support resources for the average IT department. So far I agree with the results that supportingg end-users are the biggest daily firedrill.

How's this compare with your company?

end users (losers) that download spyware that bogs down the network and crappy programmers that don't know how a network works thus don't write apps that are network friendly

I understand that in most companies it's the crappy slow IT people (losers) consuming most of their own time...

I really don't mean that - the IT folks at my company are excellent, and I know of a couple of great ones on this board as well. But, I just wanted to point out that you shouldn't be so harsh on your customers. If they knew how the network works, along with the other aspects of your job, then they wouldn't need you, would they...

Sorry, since I already voted, it may have messed up the link.

Try the main page and just click on "High Maintenance" Poll

2 of the biggest headaches that Enterprise/SME customers talk about are 1) Multiple servers to manage (lack of consolidation), and 2) shrinking backup windows

zing, good one. companies call the user clients now, but in the past they were jokingly referred to as the end loser (user), and customers that surf porn and can't say no to or recognize ad\spyware are, I'm sure the IT 'great ones on this board' can vouch, a danger to all and themselves at work and home. It's too bad spyware got imbedded in the internet before the average surfers even knew what it was and how bad it is.
