I wonder if Obama is going to change his campaign pledge?

It seems obvious that there is NO money left to give 95% of America a tax cut and still provide everyone with health care, education and all the other entitlements he has proposed.

I'm going to listen carefully because if he continues to promise all these gifts in light of our financial situation he is nothing more than a liar.

There will be no changes in the tax structure, the nation can't afford any impact. Remember there will be a significant cost reduction when the war in Iraq is wrapped up shortly after the new administration hits the road.

I think we need to step back a second and ask, what is healthcare?

The only way to truly make sure that everyone has healthcare is to limit the quality of health care that can be provided.

Sorry, we can't fix your arm cause that would cost $500,000. But we'd be happy to chop it off for free!

The point is, one of the reasons our health care system is SO expensive is because we have the best. And the best is expensive. And NO, not everyone can afford it.

So would you rather be in a health care system where you get your arm chopped off for free or be in a health care system that has the best, but it's realistically unaffordable to most people?

I know many wealthy people from other countries with socialized medicine and they come here and pay doctors for what they could get for free at home. Why? Because socialized medicine does not equal "best medicine"..

So ask yourself, would you prefer the absolute best but knowing it might cost you your entire life savings OR would you prefer less expensive treatments?

I think Obama probably could bring some sort of universal health care into this country despite the economic downturn..
The question is, would you want the type of medicine that the gov't could afford to give you? Or would you prefer the type of medicine that is better to pay for?

In in the industry and I deal a lot with Clinics Heavy in Medi-Cal which is California's version of socialized medicine. Let's start with the fact that Medi-Cal is bankrupting California and end with the fact that long lines and limited care are inherent in this system.

How is 10 weeks to get an appointment?

Right now I shell out tens of thousands of dollars a month to cover my employees health care, I'm doing my 'universal' part.

Sounds like you need to be taxed more so the dude on the corner with a speed habit can have health care. You see he does not have enough money to buy new syringes so he shares them with other drug addicts. We need to make sure he can not only buy new syringes so he does not spread Aids but we need to make sure he has enough to eat and a warm dry place to sleep at night...Well when he sleeps anyway.
