Where did you hear that? As far as I know, that is absolutely not true.

Link please.

Let GM and Chrysler fail, they make junk, perhaps their CEO driving in his malibu will FINALLY show him the crap his company produces.

Yeah, I'd like to see the link also. The new ZR1 is an important part of my "spank bank"! I'd hate to see it canned. The brakes alone are worthy of a wet dream

ZR1 isn't cancelled. Internet rumour, denied by GM. Might be because the factory was scheduled down, so no Corvettes were being produced.

I've said it before:

Ford
Lincoln

Pontiac
Chevrolet
Saturn

Dodge/Chrysler (privately owned)

Should be the only US automakers post bailout. No General Motors, no Buick, no GMC, no Mercury...sell off your branches and stop telling us how big an impact this will be to your company. You are on the threshold of hell, you can't go any lower other than closed completely. So do it.

Side note:

61% oppose bailout

Yeah and over 75% said no to the Wallstreet bailout..so what is your point CNN?

I agree with trimming the fat, but Buick is probably the only brand that is saving GM. Just because the brand is not selling in the states does not mean that it is not selling well elsewhere. Buick is the number one brand in China.

...which brings us to the magic question:

Should our elected representatives in congress....(a) do what they think is best, or (b) do what the majority of their constituants want regardless of their personal opinions?

I'm looking for the link that ref'd the Oldsmobile dlr toss a few years ago,
but the point is there are huge costs involved in shutting down this
plethora of GM, et al stlrs, as the state(s) laws impose considerabel fines/
buyouts on that kind of franchise dlr. Not defending them keeping the gillion
stlrs they have, just reminding that it's a boat load of dough to cancel them.

And, when they pare down a third or more of the dlrs, those people that
worked there don't simply show up as Starbucks barristas or working at
the local Jiffy Lube...if GM goes BK or worse, bust, there will be a considerable
impact beyone the line workers, the engineers, the staff idiots, etc. Sometimes,
I think some of you think it's akin to closing the local malt shop in terms of "easiness"
or, little impact.
