Of course they knew. If they didn't have links to al-queda, then the invasion of Afghanistan wouldn't have had the same kind of public support. That would have defeated the whole purpose of the attack.

Monica Lewinsky is on the list for white house intern. She is experienced on how to handle it in the oval office.

Heard she'd like to open up trade relations with Cuba

Of course there is sometimes a reason for war. The Taliban had a good reason to fight back when we attacked them. The Iraqi people had a reason to fight back when we attacked them. The Polish people had a reason to fight back against the Nazis as did the French. And we had a good reason to fight back in the War of 1812 when Britain attacked us. Iran had a good reason to go to war against Iraq when Iraq attacked them. The only good reason for war is when you are invaded.

And 99.9% of the time, the country doing the invading is doing so because of their hope to acquire land, money, resources, business deals, etc. At least that is the case in the last 100 years. Maybe at some time in the past one country would invade another to try to convert them to their religion. But those years are long past. Today money rules the world.

Unfortunately for those in charge, soldiers are not very inspired to put their lives on the line for someone else's business dealings. So leaders need a better excuse to go to war. And 99.9% of the time, that excuse is fearmongering. Actual attacks help as well. Whether it is the Reichstag fire, the Levon Affair, the sinking of the USS Maine, a phantom attack at the Gulf of Tonkin, the sinking of the Lusitania, or the 9/11 attacks, it always helps to have an attack and blame it on the country you want to invade.

Whether it is a real attack that was provoked and intentionally allowed to happen (i.e. Lusitania, Pearl Harbor), a made up story that never even happened (i.e. Gulf ok Tonkin), or an attack actually executed by their own government (i.e. Reichstag fire, 9/11, Levon Affair, USS Maine), the suckers always believe it and it works like a charm.

I think we are mostly good people. I think our government stinks.

It's funny how people will watch a program like the Sopranos and of course that is very believable. It's not hard for them to believe that people will kill for money -- even their own family members. We all know that organized crime exists and has existed for many decades.

And then people will complain how their leaders are so corrupt and bad.

But combine the two -- organized crime and the government together, and then suddenly you are a "conspiracy theorist". After all, even though our leaders are all so corrupt and terrible, they would never do anything so terrible as send soldiers overseas to risk their lives and kill people in another country over some money. Nah....no way that would happen....

So as to try not to get personal prejudice in the way of learning a lesson, try studying some wars that the US or our allies were NOT involved in. Now find me one where the country that did the invading had what you consider to be a valid reason and expressed that valid reason openly to their people. You won't find one.

As for you Wagner, I know you have read plenty about the 9/11 attacks. You know about all the pipeline crap, and you know about all the problems with the official story. I think you just have a hard time with coming to grips with the idea that our own leaders are criminals. It's much easier to think that we were indeed attacked by the bad guys, and our leaders simply used it as an excuse to launch their own crusade. While that is a very believable theory, the evidence in this case simply does not support it. Maybe at some point in our lifetimes, the classified files on this stuff will be released and we will know for sure like we now know about Pearl Harbor or the USS Maine sinking. But for now, based upon what we know, the best guess is that the al-queda guys on 9/11 were not only provoked, but had lots of help from the inside.
