Just curious what others think, but what do you think the UN should do when a country is in violation of one or more UN Security Counsel resolutions??

Sanctions?

Military Response?

Nothing at all?

It's kind of like asking a member of the KKK if people should be allowed to sit where they want on a bus. They can't give you an answer unless you first tell them the race and religion of the people.

Obviously you cannot answer the question without more information. But just what information would you need to answer that question?

So what country is this exactly Eric that "violated" all these U.N. "rules and regulations"? That way all of us can give a more accurate response. You know, you need all the information before you can give a more informed decision.

Well, if you go to Wikipedia you would find 74 pages of UN Security Council Resolutions concerning Israel, but I suspect it is #1860 of yesterday, calling for a full cessation of the attack on Gaza, that is being referenced above. Israel has declared its intent to not abide by the resolution.

I think it is good news that the US didn't veto the resolution, but instead let it go ahead. Now we can see if world pressure on Israel can have some effect, or whether they will continue to ignore that growing pressure.

So the UN should respond certain ways to some countries and different ways to other countries? Different rules for different countries? That hardly sounds like an ethical way for a world body to act.

Am I understanding you correctly that you think the UN should respond differently to different countries that do the exact same thing?

You didn't even ask what the violation was. How about we call the country of discussion "Country X". And why don't you ask questions about "Country X" and their violation (or violations) that you would need to know in order to have an opinion on how the UN should respond. I'll give the answers, and then you can give your opinion.

btw, here's my 2 cents: you dont negotiate with people who are bent on destroying you; who teach their kids to hate you and destroy you; who are willing to sacrifice their own children and women to destroy you. And "rules"? Do terrorists care about rules? I dont think so. Their one burning passion is to achieve their objective: and that is to annihilate you no matter what the cost. So what do you do? Just sit there and "hope" they would change their minds? Eric, if somebody threatens to wipe out my family and starts harrassing them or shooting them, Im not going to negotiate with that person! Heck NO! Im going to retaliate with everything Ive got and make sure I kill him! I might go to prison, but hey my family lives!

Remember Adolf Hitler? They tried to "negotiate" with him, and they actually thought that they succeeded! The rest is history...

NOTHING AT ALL WOULD BE MY FINAL ANSWER.

Because Russia has already offered the solution and mediation but Livny sayd that they do not need foreign involvement, so UN is pretty much useless in this sitution, Israelis will never accept anything untill they get what they want.

While they might not accept anything...the death toll in Gaza is 700+ and that is unacceptable...no matter on which side you are...

I agree, i'am not on anyone's side, i just think while Hammas firing rockets at Israeli towns, it dos not justify Israls actions, which resulted in so many killed civilians and PLUS WHATS MOST IMPORTANT FIRING AT UN CONVOYS AND RED CROSS WHO WHERE THERE TO HELP THE WOUNDED, BECAISE OF ISRAELIS FIRING AT RED CROSS AND MEDICAL CONVOY'S BOTH ORGANIZATIONS HAVE NOW SUSPENDED THEIR INVOLVEMENT IN THE SITUATION, WHICH LEAVES CIVILIANS WHO ARE WOUNDED AND IN NEED EVEN MORE HELPLESS, THATS JUST PLAIN FUCKING UNHUMANLIKE, THERE HAS GOT BE BE AN END TO THIS NONESCENCE.
