New GM Chairman “I don’t know anything about cars,”

What do you think? Did the Government make a bold move or is this more blind Government intervention. I'm not sure yet but I'm worried.

Well if you're a good exec, you're generally a solid businessman. And core business principles should allow you to setup a pretty good staff. Now if nobody in his chain has any auto experience, I'd worry.

How are we rating Nardelli's performance? I'm not suggesting an opinion either way.

Lack of manufacturing experience is an issue. No auto experience could be an issue. It would seem he has experience with unions. Nearly anyone would be better than the previous team however - they didn't own up to making the changes necessary relative to their shrinking market share and relied too heavily on loopholes in CAFE standards with SUV/Truck sales to keep factories working.

No Auto experience might be a plus.
Not conditioned to keep making the
same dumb mistakes and might listen
to some innovative ideas from people
who have a brain........???

You have a point - fresh eyes and outside experiences might be valuable to challenge the status quo.

Women have had more input regarding what goes in vehicles
than most of us know about. But few of them are in the board room.
